We are so excited to share this Florence Italy destination wedding by one of our favorite film wedding photographers, Jen Huang. The Tuscan region is one of the most popular destinations for wedding couples from all around the world, so we are not surprised when this Irish couple decided to bring their soiree away from their home in Australia.
Giselle and John met through mutual friends in Ireland, and after dating for 2 years, they decided to take some time out to travel and landed in Australia. One year of traveling turned into 2 years and because they love Australia so much that they wanted to stay just a little longer. John proposed during a trip to Whitsundays Islands on the Great Barrier Reef. As they were taking a sunset walk back to their beach bungalow, John got down on one knee and asked Giselle to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course she said YES!
With the two of them living in Australia, and friends and family members from all over the world, a destination wedding was the best way to unite the two families. As a child, Giselle lived with her family in the gorgeous stone village of Casole d’Elsa in Tuscany for 9 months. She has always wanted a dream wedding at a little rustic chapel followed by an outdoor reception in a romantic courtyard in the Tuscan countryside. When she went online and found Castello di Vincigliata with the beautiful courtyard, she knew she had found the perfect location! The 13th century castle is situated up on the hilltops of Fiesole with gorgeous panoramic view of Florence and its own winery, which provided the delicious wines at the wedding.
Planning a destination wedding is never an easy feat, especially when Giselle had a few things in mind that she definitely wanted to have at her wedding – white chivari chairs, lilac napkins, peonies and gold cutlery. In the end, everything turned out beautifully… having dinner in a breathtaking castle courtyard surrounded by 80 of their closest families and friends with candlelights and sharing the most scrumptious food and wine was definitely a dream come true.
