Sake Tasting/Pairing @ Four Seasons Resort Maui
DISCLAIMER: THIS POST WILL MAKE YOU HUNGRY!
Last Friday evening, I had the privilege of attending the Sake No Kiki Kurabe at the Four Seasons Resort Maui. Carol Suckow, Catering Sales Manager at the resort, graciously invited me to this event and we had such a great time catching up with each other, as well as sampling all the different sake with action food stations.
The event was held at the Upper Lobby Atrium and it was an opportunity to sip and compare the highest-grade Junmai Daiginjo beverages, which included the Regal Hawk, Junmai Ginjo Moon Over the Water, Wandering Poet and Star-Filled Sky, not to mention the pure, sparkling Mizbasho.
Here are some of the yummy food and sake that we tasted (I took these photos with my point-and-shoot camera instead of my DSLR). As you can see, I was more drawn toward the food than the sake:
Snow Maiden Junmai (left) and Ama No To Tokubetsu Junmai (right)
The dessert station - Matcha (Green Tea) Shortbread Cookies, Pear & Ginger Bubble Tea,
Lychee Sorbet with Marinated Plums & Yuzu Shaved Ice
Beautiful sake cups
These were the Marinated Plums to be put on top of the Lychee Sorbet
The Ice Station - Daikon-wrapped Kumamoto Oysters in White Miso, Hamachi Ceviche,
Spicy Ahi Tuna with Compressed Pineapple-Harissa Curry Foam

The Tempura Station - Moroccan Short Ribs
The Tempura Station - Okinawa Sweet Potatoes and Rock Shrimp
Pork Belly with Greens
Perigueux Soy Glazed Quail with Ginger Nectarine Relish
A BIG “Thank You” to the Four Seasons staff - Executive Chef Roger Stettler, Chef Michael Goralski, Director of Food & Beverage Byron Chong and their entire F&B team for putting together such an amazing tasting. And of course a HUGE “Mahalo” to my friend, Carol, for having me as her guest. I truly enjoyed the evening.

Are there plans to repeat this event when we are staying at the resort from August 13th to 20th? What is the cost or is this a complimentary event?

Oh Drool! That all looks so good! Now I want to go to the doctor and find out if my seafood allergies are gone.
