Afternoon Tea @ The Plaza Hotel, NYC

My lovely November bride, Abena, just shared with me some photos of her bridal shower at The Plaza Hotel last Sunday.  It’s one of my favorite hotels in New York City.  I haven’t seen it since its renovation, but based on these photos I wouldn’t expect any less than what it was before.  Look at those beautiful chandeliers!

Growing up in Hong Kong and having lived in London (UK) for a year during my Sophomore year in college, afternoon tea is a huge part of my life.  I remember my mom and I would enjoy afternoon tea at all the nice hotels in the area - The Peninsula, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental… That was the highlight of my weekends! The finger sandwiches are great, but I just can’t resist those little pastries and especially the scones with the clotted cream and strawberry jam.  Hmmm… YUM-O!

Personalized tea menu and Tea Forte favors

The “spread”!  Look at the lovely teapots…

Hmmm… scones, pastries and shower gifts!

Nice afternoon with family and friends

My beautiful bride, Abena!

Tea at the Plaza is such a great way to share a nice afternoon with your closest friends and family!  If you live in New York or are visiting, you don’t want to miss out on this timeless tradition at The Plaza Hotel.  Want to know more about the history of English Afternoon Tea or High Tea?  You can read it HERE.

A special “Thank You” to one of Abena’s bridesmaids - Sherry Tenorio for taking and sharing these wonderful photos with me.  I look forward to meeting you this November at Abena’s wedding here on Maui.

Wonderful, stylish and oh-so-delicious! Once upon a time, I used to attend high tea at the Ritz-Carlton in Boston - what great memories! We’re looking forward to this one!
